Help Jake get back on his feet...
Our brother, Jake, was diagnosed with Stage 4 Cholangiocarcinoma Cancer (liver cancer) which has spread to his spine and needs your help...
First let me introduce ourselves. We are Jake's sisters, Kathy, Sharon, Janet, Cheryl, his mom, Lila Mae and best friend, Joe.
It it is our desire to raise funds for ongoing medical expenses for Jake's care that are not completely covered by his insurance.
Jake was admitted to the hospital for surgery to remove the cancer from his liver on Monday, October 3, 2016. A few days after his surgery the doctors discovered the cancer had spread to his spine. A second surgery was performed on Sunday, October 9, 2016. Sometime between the two back to back surgeries he became paralyzed from the waist down. Once he was recovered enough from the surgeries he was moved to a rehab facility for PT and OT to help him get strong enough to go home. He is still currently in the rehab facility in Seattle, WA.
Once he is strong enough to be released he will continue to need round the clock medical care and rehab. Our plan is to raise money to offset his medical expenses and construction cost to make his home handicap accessible.
Although his condition is incurable, IT IS TREATABLE. He will need constant care once he is released to go home. It is our hope that he will be home for Christmas and that we can keep him in his own home as long as possible. In order to accomplish this, we are reaching out to our families, friends and friends of friends hoping to raise enough money to cover the cost of his caregivers as well as other unexpected medical bills and expenses, such as having a hoist/lift installed to help transport him from his bed to his wheelchair and back to bed again along with other unforeseen expenses.
We we are MOST grateful for any help you can give in any way, big or small.
