About a week ago, 24 year old Darrin Bryant, aka DJ, was admitted to the emergency room with stage 5 kidney failure. His kidneys are currently functioning at 10%. This is due to a rare genetic disease called “Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis” (FSGS). “This is a rare disease that affects the filters in your kidneys. When these filters are scarred, they are unable to filter your blood, which can lead to kidney damage and failure”.
In other words, he was born with this predisposition and had no clue about it until now. He will have to go on dialysis every single day for a year (at least) AND receive a kidney transplant in order to survive the severity of the damage done from this disease.
DJ is one of the most hard-working, loyal, loving, hilarious people I have ever met. Over the past couple years, he has poured blood, sweat, and tears into creating his own business for laying pavers. Unfortunately, now he has to give this dream up in order to survive. This is not only heartbreaking for him, but also adds financial stress to the equation.
Megan, his girlfriend of 4+ years, has lived with him + roommates for a while now. They were supposed to move into their new home this past week, just the two of them, but being in the hospital day and night has prevented this from happening. So, on top of hospital bills and stress from this situation, they have moving costs to worry about as well.
On top of all of this, DJ and Megan found out a couple weeks ago that their dog, Remy, has heartworms and will have to undergo costly treatment and close supervision for a year. It’s safe to say that it has been a rough few weeks for their “little family”.❤️
Please consider donating any amount at all so that DJ and Megan won’t be buried in bills for years to come. It will be tough with DJ unable to work for a year, needing dialysis and a kidney transplant, moving into a new home, and Remy needing treatment all at the same time. Every single penny helps in some way. Thank you in advance for your generous donation and please share, share, SHARE!!!
