This is the hardest thing my siblings and me have ever had to do, the most painful words we have ever had to write, and we hope that you and yours will never have to do the same.

On December 31, 2015, the day before New Year’s, a time of hope and renewal for many of us,  our father, Dan Pring, Sr. - “Pops,” “HIM,” “Dan the Man,” - was diagnosed with stage 4 bladder cancer.  Sadly, the diagnosis also detected that the cancer had spread to his bones.  After an arduous and painful road of chemo, radiation, a new immunotherapy drug, numerous hospitalizations, and a valiant final effort (20 days in rehab,) Dan has made the very difficult decision to initiate hospice at home.  This decision will allow Dan to spend his remaining time at home with his supportive and loving family and friends. 

Dan and our mother, Hillary, have been the heart and rock of our blended family of 35 years.  They have ALWAYS put themselves second--unconditionally loving us, motivating us, teaching us, and giving us access to all of the wonderful things life can offer. 

Dan and Hillary have built strong careers, working hard and tirelessly in retail sales for decades, on commission, where “if you don’t work, you don’t get paid.”  They have continued to work into their late 60s, but with Dan not able to work for the last 10+ months, and Hillary on the unpaid Family and Medical Care Leave Act, there is little income for the exponential medical bills and Dan’s end of life care.

Putting all of our family pride aside, we are asking for any help you can offer to make this heartbreaking time less painful and stressful for Dan and Hillary, so that they, and in turn all of us, can focus on the time we have left with Dan.  As important, we ask for your prayers, which are always free.
