This Movember, four of us from DJK House, a recovery living centre in Wavertree, Liverpool are putting down the razor and growing our moustaches to raise awareness and funds for prostate cancer.

As men who are now in recovery from addiction, we have come to value life so very much. We understand how important it is to look after our physical and emotional health and support one another along the way.

We are proud to be doing our part for a cause that affects so many men and families, including my own. and the husband of the Head of Service here at DJK House. There are over 150 newly diagnosed men every single day in the UK. 1 in 8 men get prostate cancer and 1 in 4 Black men are diagnosed too. These are shocking statistics.

Any donation, big or small, would mean the world and help make a real difference in supporting our dads, brothers, granddads, mates etc living with prostrate cancer. There is a support group called The Lads at Larks, based at the Marina Dalglish Support Centre in Liverpool. We will donate our fundraising total to that group for those men living with prostate cancer themselves, to decide what to do with.
