Standby Stormy

Hello all, it grieves me to have to take this action but I am pressed against the wall and need help; before I ask I want to give a little backstory to help explained what has happened and why I care so much. As many of you know this is Stormy, my everyday life partner. As all of you all know my job can be overwhelming and sometimes stressful and Stormy has become my safe space. Stormy is a safety blanket that I didn’t know that I needed, she provides a solace during times when my life feels out of control. She is a part of me, one that I can’t see myself moving forward without. For context let me start at the beginning, on July 4, 2020, while I was at work, a then four-week old, Stormy was sadly abandoned during a hit and run. The occupants of the car ran from the scene and left behind this beautiful girl. I worked to find Stormy a loving home and then realized that I could not leave it in the hands of chance for whether or not the people Stormy ended up with would care for her so I decided to adopt her myself. The very next morning I took Stormy to the Vet and realized how poorly she had been cared for by her previous owners, Stormy was treated for tapeworms and other underlying issues while she was quarantined for 30 days. My friends like to tell me that I saved Stormy that day but the truth is that she actually saved me, she filled a hole in my heart that I didn’t know existed. Many dog owners know the feeling of when a dogs walks into your life and changes everything. From that day forward, Stormy grew an unbreakable bond not just with me but with everyone close to her. Stormy gained a loving brother Toby, aunties Karol and Dayhanna, uncle Yanko, a loving and attentive father, Savan and all her boat besties. Stormy loves boat days, playing tennis, and most importantly nightly cuddles. Stormy has brought unconditional love, trust and laughter into everyone’s lives. Then unfortunately we were struck with tragedy, Toby, who was like Stormy’s older brother and partner in crime was diagnosed with lymphoma on November of 2021 and peacefully passed January 2022. The loss was immense, there is still a void no one can fill in all of our hearts, but having Stormy to care for helped me keep moving forward. Fast forwarding, on July 4, 2022, Stormy began showing signs of anxiety and wasn’t her usual active, affectionate self. At first, I assumed it was because of the fireworks since she is petrified of them. The following days, she was not eating, began throwing up and was having diarrhea. Instead of celebrating her birthday, Stormy was taken to the veterinarian where she was given daily fluids to keep her hydrated and stabilized in hope her medication would make her feel better. Stormy continued to decline in health and I rushed her to the Emergency Room where we were devastated to be told she had a bad case of pancreatitis which is the inflammation of the pancreas. The swelling of her organs has caused her GI Tract (Digestive system) to stop working, which has affected her kidney function. Stormy continues to decrease platelet levels which could cause massive internal bleeding. Stormy has been under treatment and hospitalized for the last 10 days. Stormy is currently in intensive care and continues to decline in health. We are praying for a miracle; we know our girl is strong. We are still holding out hope Stormy will get better. This all circles us back to why I am here, unfortunately, Stormy’s medical treatment has been costly and is now reaching close to $10,000.00. Stormy has brought so much love and goodness into my life I cannot bring myself to not fight for her in any way that I can. To that affect, this is what has led me to reach out to the community as a whole and ask to please help in any capacity that you can. Help me continue to give Stormy the means to keep fighting. I will keep everyone updated with Stormy’s treatments. I genuinely appreciate everyone, even for taking the time to read this.
