My grandmother is one of the most genuinely good people I've ever known. She's faced difficulties that I can't even really comprehend, and inspired me so much in the ways of perseverance and "living a life worth living". Moreso she is the most relentlessly giving person I've ever met. She's often given up basic comforts just to lavish them on my brother (picture above) and I, or total strangers who she thought could use a little help. She's had to live with nothing and knows how hard it can be and wants to do everything in her power to make sure others don't have to go through that. I'm glad I have someone like that in my life, someone to instill the importance of giving.
Now my grandmother is about 80, and is daily letting Parkinson know that it's her bitch. What I'm trying to say is she already has enough on her plate. However, she also lost a majority of her teeth and has problems with the surviving ones. She has dentures but it's still hard for her. I've been talking to her on the phone and apparently there is an operation she can go that would work well for her but it's about $24,000. I was floored when she told me that. There's no way she can do for that, and there's no way any one in our family could really. I was heart broken thinking that after all she's done for me that I can't help her when she needs it.
Now one of the reasons I can't help her is because I'm a creative writer. So I get by on whatever work I can, and right now that's just paying the bills. But I am a creative writer and I would be happy to use these skills to help make this more worth your while. So what can a creative writer do besides like...write a Community script or an Avengers movie script? I'm not going to do that for you. It would probably turn out pretty amateur and it would be extra illegal. But I will make you a custom made t shirt if you donate at least $20. What will they say? I dunno. Something funny. Something, earnest or heartfelt. Something weird and non-sequitur. Don't worry, we won't do any black color with white text so you won't feel cringey and anxious that people will think you're stuck in the late 90's. Does it have to be in English? Nope? Can you make requests? Yep. Will I listen to them? I make no promises, but you can try at least.
So folks there it is. What I'm offering you is modest. A chance to help a sweet old woman who gives her all to others and could really use a little help right now. That and a weird t-shirt. Please and thanks.
