# Help Djawarray & Mayi Wunba Go to BIGSOUND

Hi everyone,

We have some exciting news to share.

Djawarray and members of the Mayi Wunba Dance Troupe have been officially selected to attend BIGSOUND 2026 in Brisbane from 1–4 September.

Being chosen to perform at BIGSOUND is an incredible honour. As Australia's leading music industry event, BIGSOUND brings together emerging artists with festival directors, booking agents, record labels, media and industry leaders from across Australia and around the world. It has helped launch the careers of many of Australia's most successful artists and provides opportunities that simply don't come along every day.

For Djawarray and Mayi Wunba, this opportunity is about so much more than music.

It is an opportunity to proudly share the songs, language, dances and stories of Djabugay and Western Yalanji culture with new audiences.

To stand proudly in our culture.

To honour our Elders and those who have entrusted us with carrying these stories forward.

To create opportunities for our young people to walk proudly in their identity while sharing the strength, beauty and resilience of First Nations culture.

We are incredibly proud to have been invited to represent our communities on one of Australia's most influential music stages.

While being selected is an enormous achievement, there is very little funding available at such short notice. There is no performance fee, and all travel expenses must be covered by the group.

We're hoping to raise $16,000 to help 14 performers and cultural representatives travel from Far North Queensland to Brisbane.

Your support will help cover:

* ✈️ Airfares 4500
* Accommodation (4 nights) 5500
* ️ Meals for 14 people over 4 days 5300
* Ground transportation 1000
* Performance preparation and cultural materials 2000
*Sundries 1000

Every contribution, no matter the size, will help us proudly share the songs, language, stories and dances of Djabugay and Western Yalanji culture on one of Australia's biggest music stages.

If you're unable to donate, sharing this campaign with your family, friends and community is another wonderful way to support us.

Thank you for standing with us as we take our culture to one of Australia's biggest music stages.

Together, we're helping ensure our stories continue to be heard, our language continues to be spoken, and our culture continues to be shared with future generations.

With gratitude,

Djawarray & Mayi Wunba Dance Troupe ❤️
