DJ Lamay - Celebrating His Life

Hey everyone! My name is Gabby Ozoa and I’m here to ask for your support for my cousin, his daughter and the family. 

If you haven’t heard by now, my cousin Dionesio Lamay Jr. was flown out to O’ahu a few weeks ago due to severe health issues. He has been and still is in the ICU at Straub O’ahu while the doctors and nurses work tirelessly to keep him comfortable during this difficult time. Our family is asking for your kind support to help his mother, Teresa (Mirafuentes) Lamay, his daughter, Elicia, and his siblings who had to travel from Lanai to Honolulu so they can be there for DJ. 

We are so grateful for all your prayers and for everyone who’s been able to go and visit him. He’s been enjoying the company of his family and loved ones, so we appreciate all the support you can give during this time. 

Please continue to keep DJ and our family in your thoughts and prayers as we navigate through these trying times. Mahalo and Aloha to you all.

UPDATE April 23, 2022 - 

Thank you everyone for the love and support you’ve shown our family over the past several days. We are saddened to say that DJ had taken his final breath early this morning and is now resting in peace. After a few weeks of intense pain and unfortunate multiple organ failures, the good Lord has taken him to rest. 

DJ was born and raised in Hawaii on the island of Lanai with 3 siblings, Christopher, Kimberly, and Trisha. His mom, Teresa (Mirafuentes) Lamay and dad, Dionesio Lamay Sr. came to Hawaii from the Philippines in hopes of finding a life full of opportunities. Unfortunately, years ago, we lost Uncle Dionesio to illness and he also is resting now in peace. We only pray that they have both found solace in the presence of each other now. 

After attending and graduating from Lanai High and Elementary School, DJ served in the Marine Corps and spent several years away from home before finally returning. He leaves behind a daughter, Elicia Lamay, his very best friend in this life. His legacy lives on through her. 

Thank you again for your kind generosity and prayers throughout this very difficult time for the family. We appreciate every single one of you and words will never be enough to express our heartfelt thanks for the Aloha you have shown. Please allow time for my Aunty, her children and Elicia to grieve before we move on with the next steps of planning DJ’s memorial service. We will keep you all updated on the details should anyone wish to attend to say their final goodbyes to this wonderful soul. We love you all. Thank you.
