Dizzy the Emotional Support Pup's CCL Surgery

Donation protected

Hello, I’m starting a crowd funding effort to afford surgery for my dog Dizzy. She is currently suffering from a cranial crucial ligament tear which is the equivalent to a torn ACL in humans. She started with a mild limp a few weeks ago after a game of fetch, if you know Dizzy personally you know she is incredibly full of life and she.. goes hard or she goes home. Unable to afford a vet visit at the time, I had to wait a few weeks to inspect the injury and try solutions at home, the signs of injury would come and go I suspect from her high pain tolerance. She demonstrated full range of motion in her leg and confidence, but the injury quickly progressed to a full limp and we took a trip to urgent care.
Sedation, two radiographs, three medications and $700 later, we discovered she had this CCL injury. She is currently on an at least 4 week strict rest period with pain, inflammatory, and anxiety medication. The plan is to give her this time to build enough scar tissue to stabilize her knee joint. Unfortunately, this is not a permanent solution because this tear is a lifelong injury without surgical interference. Without surgery her knee will continue to degenerate, along with her other knee that is currently the main leg supporting her hind.
Dizzy is a dog full of life, passion, love and play and she deserves to have her legs working optimally. She’s saved my life, countless times as my genuine emotional service dog. I suffer from mental illnesses I won’t disclose here, but she is my rock for survival in this world and I can’t do it without her and it pains me to see her in pain. She is only 4 about to turn 5 right before Christmas, while shes seen almost the entire country with me, my coming of age in adulthood, hiking trips and dozens of living situations, 5 is not the age that I care to be seeing her start to degenerate. This is my dog. Like my dog, dog. She’s my babygirl. She’s given me strength that I never would have found without her and removed me from and supported me through every toxic or abusive situation I have found myself in. I try not to ever ask for help until I really need it, and we really need it.
She is booked for a pre-surgery exam at a veterinary specialist in Portland, I received a quote of $4,800 - $6,000 from both veterinary offices I am working with so I am shooting for $6,000, if it ends up being lower than that price I would also love and appreciate being able to purchase her a rolling wagon for her recovery. We have multiple surgical methods to choose from all with pros and cons, and post surgery are looking at an 8 week recovery period. As most of us are victims under the boot of capitalism these days, and I have been going through the loss of multiple family members and struggling moreso with my mental health, I struggle to survive and simply cannot afford a surgery of this caliber. Therefore, I am here.
What I can offer in return is all I have, my creativity and gratitude -
