Hi my name is Charity Paul, and My mother is Dixie Cox. Not only is she a mother, but she is a wife, a daughter, a sister, a grandmother, an aunt, a nanny, an early childhood educator, and a friend. She is about to embark on one of the hardest parts of her journey in life. She is battling breast cancer.
She was diagnosed in January this year (2017) with stage 2b invasive lobular breast cancer. We do not have breast cancer in our family, so it was a shock to us. They started her on a study of an anti-hormone pill treatment in February in hopes of turning off the tumor enough to avoid chemo. This late April she has found out that the pill worked some, but not enough, so she is going to have to now do 20 weeks of chemo starting in May (16 treatments total). Prior to that they will have to do a port-a-catch placement in her chest that they will place the chemo through, and a couple other tests to prepare her for the strong medications. Then sometime tentatively in September, there will be surgery to remove the cancer. Depending on the type of surgery, she may get radiation eventually.
I am confident that she will make it through no doubt, because She is a strong woman! But Cancer treatment is a huge financial burden regardless of insurance, insurance never covers all costs, and my parents will need as much help as we can give them. They already have medical bills starting to pile up for her, Not to mention other bills (car, house, utilities, etc.) Any amount of a donation would help them towards the medical bills to make things a little easier on my parents... We would be forever grateful! Thanks so much!
And if you are unable to donate in this way, that is understandable. Please continue to show her love and support as she kicks this cancer's butt! We will also have a few other fundraising opportunities locally in the future.
