Dixie Needs Your Help: Cancer Care

Donation protected
As many of you know Dixie is the PB to our jelly. The chicken to our waffles. The bacon to our eggs. Simply put, she is our absolute everything.

On February 18th 2018 we rescued this sweet girl from Woods Humane Society in San Luis Obispo, but I think it is safe to say she rescued us. This beautiful 3 year old Australian Cattle Kelpie came into our lives at the perfect time and we’ve loved her every second from the moment we brought her home. She just celebrated her 10th birthday in April who she shares with her papa, Brenen.

Dixie is a lover of many things including super long walks, hiking, dips in the ocean especially when she sees horses walking on the beach, truck rides sticking her head out the window catching the breeze (her absolute FAVE), huge hugs and kisses, naps in the sun, wrestling with her sister Grace, random veggie snacks when we’re cooking dinner, whipped cream in the morning when papa makes his coffee, snuggles and just being near her humans and sister in the same room at all times (she’s a major herding dog ). Her understanding of the English vocabulary is astounding. We often have to spell MANY words out to make sure she doesn’t know what we’re talking about. Truly more than any dog I’ve ever known! She is SUCH a loving and smart girl.

On March 22nd this year we awoke at 6:30am to a sound from Dixie that I will never forget. We rushed her to the ER and discovered she needed emergency surgery to remove a tumor that had ruptured on her spleen. After emergency surgery, blood tests and being assigned to an oncologist, we are devastated to learn that she has been diagnosed with cancer. Processing her diagnosis and the cost of her required treatments has been overwhelming to say the least. If you’ve ever met Dixie Marie you know what a bright light and joy she is and brings to all she comes across. Every doctor and technician we’ve worked with along the way sings her praises about what a good, strong girl she is. We are working to do anything in our power to extend the length and quality of her life as we navigate this process.

We appreciate your support of our beloved Dixie girl – any donation counts. And if not, please keep her in your positive thoughts and prayers. Much love and appreciation to you all.
