Dixie and her Future

Donation protected
Hey everyone,

My name is Leteisha, and I’ve started this GoFundMe to raise money for a little girl who is very close to my heart. She’s the daughter of my two best friends, Chelsea and Alex. Her name is little Miss Dixie, also known as “Aunty’s Baby.”

Just before Dixie was born in December 2023, Alex was told he had leukaemia. He spent months in and out of hospital having chemo, sometimes for weeks and sometimes for months. What should have been a happy time, celebrating their baby’s birth and milestones, turned into months of heart ache, struggle, and tears.

After many rounds of chemo, Alex went into remission. Sadly, it only lasted about eight months before the leukaemia came back. Once again, they faced long hospital stays and more treatment, a fight no one should ever have to go through, especially not twice.

This December, Dixie will be turning two. Just two days ago, we were called to the hospital and given the heart renching news that Alex’s leukaemia had come back and spread to his brain and spine. Then came the news we never wanted to hear: Alex only has a few short weeks left.

How do you prepare a two-year-old to loose her daddy? You can’t. How do you prepare a mother to loose her son, siblings to loose a brother, friends to loose a mate, or a man to say goodbye to his life? And worst of all, how does a daddy say goodbye to his little girl, the apple of his eye, and tell her how much he loves her and that he’ll always be watching over her?

He won’t get to see her first day of school, teach her to ride a bike, watch her graduate, scare off her first boyfriend, or walk her down the isle on her wedding day. So many special moments taken away, moments they’ll never share together.

The next few weeks will be incredibly hard. I feel helpless watching two of my best friends and their precious little girl face something no family should ever have to face. After thinking about how I could help, I decided to start this page to give Alex a way to prepare for his little girl’s future.

The money raised will help Chelsea with day-to-day costs and go towards a trust that Dixie can access when she turns 18.

Please help Alex leave something for his little girl and show him he isn’t alone. His family isn’t alone. No matter what, we’ll be here every step of the way.

Let Alex go knowing his little girl and Chelsea will be okay.
Alex, we love you, we will always love you, and you will always be Dixie’s daddy.
