Refugee Crisis (Greece)

Donation protected
I have just spent some time volunteering in refugee camps in Thesaloniki, Greece and I have decided to go back to volunteer again with http://togetherforbetterdays.org a non-profit organisation that believe in creating a welcoming and dignified space for people seeking protection in Europe by spreading hope. I will also be carrying out clinical duties with www.teamrubiconusa.org/ a disaster relief organisation comprised of doctors, pharmacists, nurses, first responders etc.

I am are incredibly fortunate to able to spend time helping in any practical way I can. I will be doing general maintenance work in the camp, cooking meals, building accommodation, working with the medical/pharmacy team and delivering aid. There are 57,000 (IRC figures) refugees currently trapped in Greece due to border closures across Europe. Over half are women and children (25,000).

I know that the majority - if not all of you - are involved with, and fund-raise for a variety of great causes, so I write this expecting nothing. This is especially true given the generosity of donations for Jack's previous trips to Lesvos & Calais and our recent trip to Thesaloniki. But if anyone would like to donate, I would be incredibly grateful.

I will be self-funding this entire trip, there are no registration/enrolment fees etc. and so 100% of your donations have been used to buy supplies, medicines, food, clothes, building materials etc. for those that need it most.

Context: A hypothermia emergency blanket can cost as little as 50p and WILL save life's. Any donation big or small WILL help and would be greatly appreciated.

Jack previously visited Calais and Lesvos and together we volunteered in Thesaloniki. Together we raised ~£1000 to donate to the refugees crisis in Thesaloniki https://www.gofundme.com/divya-jack
(for construction supplies, materials, food, clothes, hygiene measures and activities for children). However, since I am volunteering along this time, I decided to create my own fundraising page as this is something I hope to be able to continue to do on a individual level and with Jack.

I have reflected on my experience, observations and experience from volunteering on my blog, feel free to have a read: http://www.themonkeydiary.com/2016/07/refugee-crisis-volunteering-greece/
