In Loving Memory of Divina Gracia Garcia Alcampo
June 5, 1948 - August 6, 2023
It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Divina Gracia Garcia Alcampo, at the age of 75.
After a long struggle with many health challenges, she left this world peacefully at Toronto General Hospital on August 6, 2023. She was surrounded by love and care throughout the process. Heartfelt thanks to the care teams at the Toronto General Hospital, Hennick Bridgepoint Hospital, and Scarborough General Hospital.
"Ving", as she is known to her family, was born on June 5, 1948, in Pasay City, Manila, Philippines. She is predeceased by her late husband Romualdo (“Omy”); her parents, Alfredo and Feliza (nee: Buizon); and her cherished Inang, Ursula Buizon. She will be fondly remembered by her siblings, cousins, titos, titas, and extended family.
Ving immigrated to Canada with her family in the 1970s. She was a proud working-class labourer at various manufacturing companies in Scarborough, Ontario. Ving and Omy had been married for 48 years when he sadly passed away in 2016. They devoted their lives to the well-being of their children Jo, Rob, and Catalina, and their grandchild, Cherylin.
Ving was a dedicated caregiver. She took care of her family, their companion animals, and her many, many plants. When she was stronger, she loved to grow vegetables in her garden and outdoor plants. Roses were her favourite.
Ving was also a talented chef. Whether she was creating elaborate dishes for Filipino parties or simple family meals, she was happiest sharing food and good conversation with others.
Ving is now in the care of the Rosar-Morrison Funeral Home. In accordance with her wishes, a private viewing will be held with her immediate family before a cremation ceremony. A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held at a future date.

Many people have expressed interest in making a donation in lieu of flowers. This tradition, called “abuloy” in Filipino culture, is an offering of goodwill to help offset the significant costs associated with end-of-life care.
Melanya Liwanag Aguila, a close family friend, will be coordinating all donations on behalf of the family. Please see below for more information.
Offerings of intentions, prayers, and/or masses in memory of “Divina Gracia Garcia Alcampo” are also welcome.
Maraming, maraming salamat sa inyong pakikiramay. Our sincere gratitude for your compassion, kindness and care during this difficult time.
