Diversity is DInamite

OUR STORY
For the past 6 months, our Destination Imagination (DI) team , “Diversity is DInamite" has been working on the Project Outreach/Inside Impact challenge. Our team choose to help increase cultural awareness in our community. We created a survey that we brought to local locations in our town.   We also read cultural Facts of Day during our schools morning announcements!

With this information in hand, we designed a fantastic presentation. During our competion we placed  3rd at the State Championships AND 1st in the in the Team Choice Element! This has earned us the opportunity to represent New York and Yorktown at the Global DI Competition at the end of May in Knoxville, Tennessee!

COSTS
While the experience of going to the Global Tournament is priceless, it will cost the team a considerable amount to make the trip. We plan to raise money by conducting events like coin drops, restaurant nights and anything else we can to defray the cost of our trip. But we will still need your help to raise enough money to reach our goal!

WHAT IS DESTINATION IMAGINATION?
Destination Imagination (DI) is an educational non-profit organization that inspires and equips students to become the next generation of innovators and leaders. The project-based learning program blends STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) education with the arts and social entrepreneurship and provides a fun, hands-on system of learning that fosters students’ creativity, courage and curiosity.

Teams select a STEM challenge and present their solutions in a skit format at competition. Every part of the Challenge is student directed- from the research, to the building to the final skit creation!
