We are starting a figure skating club to support a group of diverse skaters in Washington DC. Our home rink is Fort Dupont Ice Arena and our skaters have come through the Kids On Ice program at the rink. The goal of the Kids On Ice program at Fort Dupont is to introduce ice skating to kids at minimal costs. As such, there is little programming beyond introductory levels. We would like to start a club to offer advanced figure skating programming while continuing to support inclusivity and diversity.

Our club, called District Impact Skating Club (D.I.S.C), will apply to be a member of US Figure Skating (USFS). In order to apply to USFS we need to incorporate in DC, apply for federal 501c3 status, and pay an application fee to USFS. Our initial funds are mainly to cover filing fees for these applications.
