Distler Medical/Funeral Fund

Over two weeks ago, my friend Bill Distler, Vietnam Veteran and founding member of Bellingham's Veterans For Peace, received a CT scan which revealed a significant tumor in his temporal lobe. The diagnosis, glioblastoma, an aggressive, malignant brain tumor. Bill's wife Lisa and daughter Lily were devastated by this life-threatening prognosis and have been navigating nonstop a crippled healthcare system, including the Veterans Administration and Medicare, at all levels. These agencies haven't made it easy. While cutting through some red tape many unexpected medical expenses were mounting elsewhere and will remain on the family's side of the ledger.

Bill is under hospice care and his time is growing short, but Lisa is still fighting the good fight. Her courage and persistance have been inspirational but now surmounting unplanned funeral expenses will also further deplete limited finances.
