Displaced & Forced to Retire: Help Chue & Jue Chasengnou

I would like to thank all that have help and contributed my parent’s GFM.  Since the goal has been met for this GFM, please consider donating to the following GFM organized by Country Roney.  She has helped my parents and all of the neighbors that lived on the River Rd in Duvall.  Without her organizing effort to call for volunteers, my parents would still be cleaning their house.  They are still short of their goal and still need the support from the General Community.

=======================

Hi everyone,

I am Christopher Chasengnou, writing this on behalf of our parents, Chue and Jue Chasengnou, the proud owners of CNL Gardens in Duvall, Washington.

For the past 20 years, our parents have poured their sweat and hearts into the soil of the Snoqualmie Valley. They have been resilient farmers, surviving the major floods of 2006 and 2009. Each time, they cleaned up, replanted, and kept going.

Throughout these years, this was truly a testament to family dedication. Our family members: Suzie, Sunshine, Jackson, Jonathan, and Jonathan's wife May all worked the soil alongside our parents, making this effort a shared legacy of CNL Gardens.

Family members frequently traveled from California and Texas throughout the year, staying with our parents and helping out at the markets and blueberry farm. Now, that warm place we called home, the very center that united our entire family has been tragically destroyed.

However, the atmospheric storms of December 2025 have proven to be the most devastating yet, dealing a catastrophic blow that Chue and Jue cannot recover from.

A Life-Changing Event: The floodwaters reached critical levels this month with shocking speed. Our parents were able to evacuate just before the flash flood, taking only essential items such as their important documents and a few sets of clothes.

However, during that sudden torrent, our brother Jackson stayed behind and was stranded. As the water rapidly rose, he desperately tried to save the last of their belongings and secure the farm. With the torrent coming so fast, he had no choice but to abandon the house and successfully make his way safely to higher ground next to their farm.

The Damage: The flood has taken the life they built in Duvall.

Total Loss of Personal Property: The floodwaters ruined everything inside the home. We are facing the heartbreaking task of renting dumpsters to throw away a lifetime of belongings such as beds, furniture, appliances, and personal keepsakes.

Loss of the Garden's Foundation: Most devastatingly for the business, they lost the seeds and flower bulbs that were the very foundation of CNL Gardens. These were stored and ready for the next season; losing them means the future of the garden has been washed away.

The Loss of the Flock: The flood drowned their entire flock of free-range chickens and swept away the ducks. This is devastating for our mother, Jue. These animals were not just livestock; they provided eggs for the family and, more importantly, were Jue's daily companions. Losing them has silenced the farm and broken her heart.

Forced Retirement: It is painful to share that our parents will probably not recover from this event as farmers.

While retirement was always part of their eventual plan, they never anticipated it ending like this. They have lost everything they worked to maintain since 2005. This flood has forced them into early retirement, stripping away their home and livelihood overnight.

How You Can Help: We are raising $15,000 to help them navigate this painful transition.
Your contributions will go directly toward:
Cleanup & Disposal: We need to rent large dumpsters to clear out their ruined furniture, damaged farm inventory, and debris from the property.
Replacing Essentials: Our parents and brother need to replace their daily clothing, shoes, and personal necessities.
Transition Fund: Because they cannot return to the farmhouse they resided in, these funds will provide a safety net as they face forced retirement and the loss of their primary income source.

Chue and Jue have poured two decades of their lives into this land. Watching such dedicated hard work culminate in this level of destruction is incredibly painful and heartbreaking for our family.

We are reaching out, hoping the community can rally around them one last time to help them close this chapter with the grace and respect they deserve. We humbly ask you to consider donating or sharing this link to provide them with the support necessary for this difficult transition. Our family is profoundly grateful for your kindness and prays that God bless you and your family.

With gratitude,
Christopher Chasengnou (On behalf of the Chasengnou Family)
