Displaced by North Van Fire: Help My Grandma Rebuild
Donation protected
On Saturday May 10th, my grandma's home at the Silverlynn Apartments in North Vancouver was destroyed in a devastating fire. My 85-year-old grandma, Lioudmila Zaporojets, was safely evacuated, but tragically, she lost everything she owned—her clothing, furniture, heirlooms, documents, and the little comforts that made her apartment a home for the last 18 years.
She is currently displaced and trying to navigate this sudden, overwhelming change in her life. As you can imagine, starting from scratch—especially as a senior—is incredibly difficult emotionally and financially.
My grandma has always been the kind of person who gives without ever expecting anything in return. She’s the first to lend a hand, offer a kind word, or make someone feel seen and supported. Her generosity and quiet strength have touched so many lives. As a retired teacher with over 30 years of service, she poured her heart into shaping young minds. Now, in one of the hardest moments of her life, she needs the same love and support she’s always given so freely.
We’re raising funds to help her cover essential needs like temporary housing, clothing, basic necessities, and to help rebuild a sense of normalcy for her. Every dollar helps and is deeply appreciated. If you're unable to donate, sharing this link means the world to my family.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kindness, support, and love during this time.
