Displaced by Hurricane Ida: Support my family

With tears in my eyes and a heaven heart.

I am Robert Jones from New Orleans, Louisiana.

Hurricane Ida has relocated me and my family of 18, including adults and children. 

As many of you all know my character and integrity. I will not ask for help unless it is really needed. 

It may come as a surprise to you all because I just won a huge settlement, but what most people don't know is I have NOT RECEIVED my funds. It's a process for those that know.

Most importantly, we are strained here in Atlanta, Georgia. We have been here all together since Saturday running from the storm. We are scheduled to be put out of our current rental space in the morning and have no idea where we will go. We can't go home to New Orleans because our city is out of power and water. We have to shelter in a hotel or space where we all can be together here in Atlanta for a few weeks. We have to be together to pool our resources to keep all of us with food and all other necessities. This was totally unexpected for most of us that have been directly impacted by this storm.

Coming from serving more than 23 years in prison for crimes I did not commit and being seperated from my love ones all those years was a serious ordeal to overcome, but being free to witness so many people including my family, friends and others who are stuck in New Orleans or strained somewhere without resources is one of worst things one can endure in my eye sight. 

I am humbly asking you all to help me help my family and others with these EVACUATION EXPENSES by donating what you can. This is real and a burden us men have to carry for our families and loved ones.

After my family expressed their trauma and lived experience from Hurricane Katrina in 2005 I made sure I assisted them all to get out the city and drive until we find shelter. During Hurricane Katrina my family was divided and it took several years for them to be all back together in our hometown.

As the only man in my immediate family I have to make quick decisions to provide food, shelter and safety for my family.
