My Story
I never imagined I would be asking for help at this stage of my life. For many years, I was independent, self-employed, and securely housed, splitting my time between the UK and Turkey to sustain both my work and my home. Following the sudden end of my long-term relationship and unexpected changes beyond my control, I now find myself back in the UK without access to my home, belongings, or the foundations of the life I had carefully built.
In 2017, I entered into a long-term relationship that later led to plans to live part-time abroad. At the time, I was financially independent, owned my own home and belongings, and ran a successful hairdressing business in the UK.
Following discussions about building a future together, I agreed to relocate part of my life to Turkey. A property was purchased there by my partner and a family member, and I contributed financially to significant renovation work. The property, originally a four-bedroom duplex, was converted into two separate two-bedroom apartments.
As part of this move, I transported my furniture, clothing, personal items, and sentimental possessions to Turkey, and established what I believed to be a shared home.
Because I am not legally permitted to work in Turkey and was not in a position to retire, I arranged my life so that I could work in the UK on a rotational basis, returning regularly to Turkey. This allowed me to continue earning a living while maintaining the household abroad.
In November 2023, my partner’s family member passed away unexpectedly. This resulted in a lengthy and complex legal process under Turkish law, as no will was in place. Throughout this period, I remained supportive and involved.
By December 2024, the legal process concluded and ownership of the property was formally transferred to my partner. Following this, we jointly made wills in Turkey to ensure clarity should anything happen in the future.
In September 2025, shortly before I was due to return to Turkey from the UK, I was asked not to return and was informed that space was needed due to personal difficulties. I respected this request and allowed time, believing it to be a temporary situation.
Over time, communication reduced significantly, leaving me without clarity about the status of the relationship or my living arrangements abroad.
In November 2025, I became aware that my partner had moved on and was seeking a new relationship. At that point, I accepted that our relationship had come to an end.
On 30th November 2025, I contacted my former partner to formally request assistance in arranging the return of my belongings from Turkey to the UK, as these items remain overseas due to the life decisions we made together.
That message was received but has not been responded to.
My Current Situation
I am now in the UK without access to my furniture, clothing, personal possessions, or sentimental items. I also no longer have access to funds invested in the renovation of the property.
Retrieving my belongings from Turkey involves substantial international shipping, storage, and logistical costs, which I am currently unable to meet alone.
At 53 years old, I am temporarily living with family while trying to:
• Secure stable housing
• Rebuild my hairdressing business, which was structured around my former living arrangement
• Recover essential personal belongings
After many years of continuous work and independence, this situation has left me needing support during an unexpected transition.
Why I Am Asking for Help
I am seeking assistance to help cover the practical costs of rebuilding my life and regaining access to my belongings.
Funds raised will be used for:
• International shipping and logistics to retrieve my possessions
• Temporary housing and essential living costs
• Replacing tools and equipment required to restart my business
• Legal, storage, and administrative expenses directly related to this situation
This request is made with humility and appreciation for any support given.
I am asking for help because the life decisions I made in good faith over many years have left me without access to my home, belongings, or the tools I need to work. Retrieving my possessions from Turkey involves international shipping, storage, and administrative costs that I cannot meet alone while rebuilding my life from scratch in the UK.
The funds raised will allow me to recover what is rightfully mine, secure short-term stability, and restart my hairdressing work so that I can become fully independent again. This support is not about blame or conflict — it is about regaining stability after an unforeseen and life-altering change.
thank you for taking the time to read my story.
