I’m Dhvani, the founder of House of D Dog—a radical clothing line smashing gender binaries through Queer South Asian design. My work is a rebellion: against limits, appropriation, and the idea that fashion must be gendered. It’s about community, self-expression, and reclaiming our narratives.
I’ve poured my soul into building this brand from the ground up…but now I need your help.
Why I Need Your Help
Last year, I quit my job to pursue my dream of being a fashion designer, only to have my U.S. artist visa denied due to a lawyer’s mistake. I was forced to leave New York City, the first place where I, as a Queer Indian, ever felt free. But my vision didn’t die.
This year, House of D Dog has been selected for both Paris and Milan Fashion Week by Flying Solo, a runway that highlights emerging designers, but I need $10,000 to participate.
Why This Matters
In India (and many places around the globe), fashion often adheres to rigid gender norms, limiting opportunities for self-expression.
Yet the country’s textiles and artistry are unparalleled: it is rich, vibrant, and rooted in tradition, and holds artistry you can’t find anywhere else in the world, but too often, Indian craftsmanship is appropriated by Western brands while Desi designers fight for recognition. I want to change that.
How You Can Help
I don’t want to miss out on this chance to bring House of D-Dog, so I am asking for your support to raise $10,000 which would cover the cost of:
Transportation
Design production
Visa application
Fashion week participation
Food and drinks
Emergency expenses
Social media support
Your support whether via donation, a share, or words of encouragement, would make the biggest difference for me.
Every bit helps get me one step closer to that runway, where I can share my vision of Queer joy, Desi culture, and the radical transformation of gender in the fashion industry.
Please donate if you can & share this GoFundMe in your IG story.
Thank you for believing in this vision and celebrating gender visibility, inclusive fashion, and Desi design that showcases a Desi designer on the global stage.
