Disabilty modifications for car

Donation protected
My name is Brandy, and I am a single mother. I also have a severe and permanent spinal cord injury. This injury left me unable to walk and I require a wheelchair to get around. I am in need of help to pay for the modifications that will allow me to drive a car.

At 17 I was driving home from a family function. I was late for work, completely lost, and very tired from lack of sleep. From what I am told, (I don't remember the moments before the crash) I must have fallen asleep. They believe that when I woke up, the car was drifting off the road, and I must have over corrected and flipped the car. I was thrown from the car and it landed on me, hence the spinal cord injury. I am actually grateful it landed where it did, because it could have been way worse. I am not telling you this for pity, but if you are going to help, I thought you should know my story.

I have had a pretty normal life. I am raising an amazing little girl. Every moment of my life, even the difficult ones, have led me to wonderful people and places, and to where I am today. The major downside is that everything costs so much more when it comes to being as independent as possible. Which brings me to my current issue and why I am here asking for help.

My wonderful parents have provided me with a newer, reliable vehicle, but now I have to get it modified. I have had 2 generous donation so far, but I am left needing $6400 to complete these modifications. This is to provide me with hand controls, a spinner knob, a pedal guard, fees, labor, and what is called a chair topper. This is a device that picks up my wheelchair and stores it on top of my car. With the limited funds that I get, to carry loan payments would be almost impossible. Having the ability to drive this car will help with everything from getting my kid to and from school, running to the grocery store, doctor appointments, and just generally giving me the freedom to get myself where I need to go without relying on others. Public transportation for someone who relies on a wheelchair is quite complicated in the town I live in. You have to know hours or even days beforehand and make an appointment for a special bus to pick you up.

Even if you can't help with a donation, just sharing this link would be helpful. Thank you to my friends, my family, and anyone that has already, or will, help out. I appreciate any way that someone can help.
