discovering the legends of Rwandan music&dance
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Hilde Cannoodt and I'm a dancer doing research in Rwanda. Together with culture expert Thomas Bazatsinda and documentary maker Gerard Kingsley I am planning an excursion mid October to the Huye and Nyanza district in Rwanda. As a team we have one aim in mind: to discover the legends of Rwandan music, dance and storytelling.
This is the first of more excursions to come and we chose Nyanza as our first location, because this was the place of the Royal Courts and therefore many dancers, singers and poets who used to perform for the Royal Courts are still present there to this day.
Sadly, many of these legends have been forgotten and their stories are getting lost. It is our aim to document some of these stories through a series of interviews. With the help of cultural expert Thomas Bazatsinda we are able to identify and locate these legendary artists. To make this project work we need your help.
We are aiming to raise £850 to cover the expenses for this 3 day excursion. Included in these expenses are fair wages to pay these artists for their interviews. Starting today (1st October) we have only 7 days to raise these funds.
Any donation small or large can help us to reach our goal. With your help we can make this project a reality. Once this documentary is complete, anyone that donated will receive a video link and be able to watch the documentary we created.
Thank you so much for your time. Please support through donating and sharing this link.
