Disaster relief for the Cebu, Philippines earthquake
Edit: Thank you to all who donated! In total, we bought supplies which were repacked into 200 individual bags containing one 1,500ml bottle of water, 5 types of snacks/biscuits and 3 types of canned goods. In addition, we were able to put together 100 hygiene packs which included wet wipes, tissues, a toothbrush, and toothpaste. We also bought sanitary pads, distilled water for babies, and diapers for those who needed them. We distributed the goods to areas in barangay San Remigio such as Gaway Gaway, Lambusan, and Punta. There are still thousands of affected people but we were able to make a small but meaningful impact thanks to all of you. Thank you for your support!

On October 1st, 2025, around 10PM local time, a 6.9-magnitude earthquake struck the northern part of the Philippine's Cebu province west of Palompon and close to the city of Bogo. Aid efforts have centered around Bogo City, but there are many other local districts (barangays) in the surrounding areas that have not received as much aid, but who are in just as dire need of help. Three days later, many people continue to remain without proper food, water, or shelter due to the lasting structural damage.
My name is John Jarvis. I'm from the US but I've been living in Japan for the past several years with my wife, Gianna, who is from Cebu, Philippines. By coincidence, we had planned a trip to return to Cebu so my wife could tend to some personal matters there. But in the wake of this disaster, we are planning to rent a van, stock up on necessary supplies (mainly food, water, and tents), and deliver them to the western barangays such as San Remegio which have overall received less aid.
My flight to Cebu is about 24 hours from the creation of this fundraiser. Gianna is already there making preparations. Upon landing, on Saturday afternoon local time, we will buy the necessary supplies and on Sunday morning we will drive out to affected areas with a small crew of local volunteers (special thanks to them!) We appreciate anything you can give to support these efforts.
Anything leftover will be donated to a credible disaster relief program to continue supporting the local people after we are set to return to Japan.
Even if you are unable to donate at this time, please share this.
Thank you for your time, effort & donations.
John & Gianna
