Disaster Relief for Caroll Weaver
Hi, my name is Kirsten and I am a member of the Blue Star Church community. I have created this fundraiser for our fellow church member, Caroll Weaver, who has experienced a total loss of property due to the tornado that hit North Little Rock on March 31, 2023. Over 1,000 residents and businesses were affected with eighty structures destroyed and over 400 with major damage. Caroll's home was one of the structures that was totally destroyed and is considered a "total loss" by the insurance company. While insurance and disaster relief funds cover some of the expenses of this loss, they will not cover personal property that was within the home or all of the expenses that will be required for Caroll to begin rebuilding, or relocating as the case may be.

Caroll has been a member of the Blue Star community since 1994. She served with Mary Thunder as a "ranchie" - a student who has made a commitment of full-time service to the church and to the Spirit. She is a minister of the Blue Star Church, a Sun Dancer, a Woman's Dancer, and our sister with whom many of us have prayed many times. Caroll has been there to step up when she was called time and again to serve the needs of the church. She has supported many ceremonies over many decades. Many of the works of art you see around the ranch were done by Caroll including the murals commissioned by Thunder on her closet doors and the stone etchings that honor the stories of the Woman's Dance and reside in the arbor on the land. She has created masks and costumes envisioned by Thunder including the beautiful Isis you see pictured above. And I will never forget the time she and I had to corral Astara, the female buffalo who kept getting out while Thunder was on the road. Caroll was the one who rallied the troops for that adventure!

The starting amount requested above is intended to get immediate funds to Caroll to begin replacing her personal property including furniture and all of the comforts and necessities we often take for granted in daily life. She has lost almost everything that she owned and that will have to be replaced. If by the gracious abundance of Creator and the generous hearts of the community we collect more than this amount, it will be applied toward the rebuilding of her home or the refinancing of a new mortgage. This circumstance has yet to be determined by the insurance company.

As our elders taught us and as the Blue Star Church stands for, we are one family. We walk together in this life and we help each other along the way. We have the opportunity right now to be the one to help, to help one who is right now the one who needs it, as she has undoubtedly been the one who helped us before we even knew it. That is the way of this path, this church, this tiospaye. Whatever amount each one has to give, may God bless those who help others.
