My sister, Kathy Lynn Duffie of Myrtle Beach, was a disabled Veteran injured when serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom III. Sadly, she sustained severe head trauma that eventually took her life three months ago. Kathy left behind seven cats and two dogs, all wonderful pets in need of homes.
Can you open your heart and become their new guardian? They all need a champion now, someone who will allow them to continue to flourish in a lifelong human connection.
Kathy was a sergeant in the Texas National Guard for nearly twenty years. At age 50, she was called to serve as combat support for the Army where she specialized in repairing scopes for rifles.
She suffered a traumatic brain injury when a mortar blew up a Humvee and she was thrown and severely injured her head. Back home, she attended PTSD group meetings in South Carolina, but 12 years after her injury, and after many surgeries, my sister died in September, surrounded by her loyal animals, at age 62.
Kathy was a life-long animal lover. Once she owned horses; once she jumped into a lake to save a drowning kitten. After her injury, as she suffered with vision problems and severe headaches, she depended on her four-legged creatures for their love and companionship. She also had a phenomenal support system of family and friends (including two women who say Kathy was like a mother to them). We are all now trying to find forever homes for Kathy’s animals.
Her two dogs especially miss Kathy and as of 11/21/19, we have been successful in locating them homes.
Of the seven cats, Mammasita and Sammy have been placed with new guardians, leaving five kitties. Mammasita’s daughter is Summer, a 7yo orange and white female who is funny and sweet. She is often seen with her tongue sticking out.
Other cats are:
Meera, 9yo female tabby who was a feral rescue now overweight due to a secret nighttime snacking habit.
Asha, 3yo female Seal Point Siamese with a beautiful coat who shows promise of learning tricks. May be related to Sammy.
Shireen, 13yo female (“The Peacemaker”) who loves dogs and is always interested in anything going on around the house. A sweetie pie with interesting markings.
Yara, 4yo grey female who is very timid. She has a beautiful coat and likes to hunt for insects.
All the animals are spayed or neutered and have veterinary records and supplies that will be forwarded to new guardians.
While these animals await their future, one thing is certain: Bonding with any one of these friendly furbabies means you made an important decision to connect with a true hero who was a steward and advocate for animals, and respectfully continue the legacy of Kathy Lynn Duffie.
Note:
We are in desperate need of your help as Kathy was struggling financially. As we try to prepare these animals for their new forever homes, we would like to send them with appropriate food and pet supplies.
Anything you can do to help our Family is much appreciated.
Thank you for your considerations!
If you can help us in our time of need and spread the word, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance for your time and consideration.
Very Respectfully,
~Ken Barwis
