Disabled Veteran-Father Desperately Fighting to See His Son

Hello, my name is Donnell Lewis, and I’m a disabled veteran and a devoted father who is simply fighting for the chance to be in my son’s life again.

It’s been over a year and a half since I’ve been allowed to see my child. I’ve reached out countless times — calling, texting, and pleading — to his mother and her boyfriend, asking just to spend time with my son, but they continue to refuse. I’ve done everything I can to stay peaceful and respectful, but they’ve made it clear I won’t be allowed to see him unless I take it to court.

On March 30, 2025, I drove all the way from Louisiana to Georgia — over 9 hours — with hope in my heart that I’d finally see my little boy. Instead, I was met with police. They were called on me as if I was trespassing. I was told I couldn’t see my son and that I’d have to take legal action if I wanted to.

That moment shattered me. I haven’t stopped trying. I haven’t stopped loving him. But now, I need help.

My only income is through my VA disability, and I cannot afford the $8,000 needed to hire a family lawyer. I’m not asking for sympathy — I’m asking for a chance. A chance to show my son that I never gave up on him. A chance to be the father he deserves.
