Christine is a 63 year old US Air Force veteran, 9/11 responder, and former Search and Rescue k9 handler/trainer. She is a lifelong resident of Skaneateles. She has PTSD from her service to both the USAF and her deployment to 9/11. Because of this, she has multiple triggers that can cause a PTSD response.

In 2016, she, and other neighbors were approached by potential business owners who were looking to turn a local furniture factory into an event venue(Sinclair of Skaneateles), They misrepresented their intent from day one to gain the support of the community. They originally said noise would never be an issue and they also misrepresented how many events would take place each year.

In the last 6 years, there has been very little peace due to the noise that ceaselessly comes from the Sinclair, primarily April through January. These noises include, but are not limited to: loud music from both ceremony and reception, constant outdoor chattering and conversations from “passive patio”, yelling, car doors slamming, etc. Christine and her household can hear these noises both outside their home, and inside over the TV and air conditioner. This all violates local codes especially by creating excessive noise. Christine made SEVERAL attempts to have this issue handled by the town planning board, to no avail.

Sinclair is now suing Christine and her husband “For nuisance and defamation….disruptive and harmful statements and behavior that have caused injury and continues to injure Plantiffs business operations and reputation”. Basically amounting to preventing her family from engaging in activities of daily living, on their property, in a rural residential area(mowing, listening to music, yard games, etc).

As unfortunate and shocking as this lawsuit is, Christine hopes the matter will finally be settled, bringing the ability to enjoy relative peace and quiet on their property once again. However, she receives disability due to her PTSD and is unable to afford legal representation. Any and all help to secure a lawyer would be appreciated to bring this situation to a close.
