My stepdad is a proud disabled veteran who gave everything for his country, but now he is in the fight of his life.

Years ago while serving, he broke his spine. That injury was the start of a lifetime of pain and challenges most of us can’t imagine. Still, he never complained, he just pushed through day after day, determined to keep moving forward.

Recently he was in a terrible car accident that made his spinal injuries worse. Now doctors say he needs another spinal fusion surgery to stabilize his neck, protect his spinal cord, and give him a chance at living without unbearable pain.

Insurance will only cover part of the costs, leaving with an overwhelming medial bill for the surgery and recovery. Without it, his condition will continue to deteriorate. This isn’t just about pain, it’s about giving him the chance to be there for the people who need him the most.

He’s not just a veteran, he’s a father of two young children who still need their dad. They deserve to have him there for milestones and all the moments that make a childhood whole.

My stepdad served this country selflessly. He has endured more than anyone should have to, and now I’m hoping we can be the ones to have his back.
