Disabled Veteran needs litigation assistance
Donation protected
Hi there my name is Joey Williams, I’m presently an 11 year disabled combat Army Veteran battling Multiple Sclerosis. After having served two years in theater in Afganistán, I was sent home to battle a new enemy know as MS. Pleading my case to the VA took all of eight years as the struggle with my MS grew progressively worse.
After qualifying for disability status finally I subsequently received an entitlement for handicapped renovation of me and my wife’s humble home. Incidentally, the excitement would soon waned, once we came to discover the poor workmanship of the contractor that was provided to us by the VA. He initially promised a four month completion of the renovation which began in October of 2019. Consequently, after much construction contentious issues the work is incomplete and my wife and I are still not back in our home as promised. One of the primary concerns was the home’s foundation, which was inspected by the Town of Mount Pleasant and was found to be non compliance three consecutive times. As per our lawyer we had a fourth inspection conducted by our engineers which still resulted in non compliance. Currently, we mentally exhausted from dealing with several other structural issues, such as poorly payed flooring, compromised support beam and sewer backup.
- At present we are unfortunately at what one might consider a standstill. Nevertheless, we’ve been incurring storage fees since the commencement of the renovation. We have had to retain a lawyer and are presently in litigation against this contractor, therefore we are seeking funding assistance for our legal expenses. Thus, we still need to correct his faulty work and finally move back in our home to our normal lives or some semblance thereof.
