Disabled Trans Man Needs to Escape Unsafe Home

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Johnny. I am a disabled trans man who is currently living in an unsafe and unstable living environment. Currently, I am applying for disability and only make $245/month while I am waiting to be approved. I can no longer keep up with how much rent is being expected of me in my current living situation coupled with my roommate (and conduit for the landlord) being an unsafe person to live with.

My roommate has made an attempt to chemically assault s previous roommate I am autistic and he refuses to communicate with me directly, and often leaves passive aggressive notes, or messages for me. I am currently expected to pay more than half of the total owed for our rent, as I found a stub for a previous month's rent that totaled to $820, while he is charging me $475. He has not purchased groceries in the entire time we've lived together, instead he expects me to cover it all.

My roommate does not clean except for very small select areas such as specific countertops, and leaves it all up to me. I am a wheelchair & cane user and many days my arthritis makes it impossible for me to cook and clean. The expectations placed on me are a hazard to my health. I suffer from severe chronic pain and fatigue, and most days I can't even make it out of bed here due to how demanding the housework is, and how often my roommate entraps me in stressful conversations. He makes uncomfortable conversations about me being trans, as well as my hormone replacement therapy. He makes me feel watched at all times

Because of how little my roommate cleans, the house is often a health hazard. There are two cats here and my roommate decided to let their litter box go without being changed for months despite having litter. I had to beg him to change it, because during that time, the fumes were quite literally toxic. I would choke and get a headache when I walked past his room. Elsewhere in the house it is beyond disgusting. Mold in the fridge, sink, garbage can and tea kettle. I am allergic to mold so cleaning these things is dangerous. Every surface of the house is covered in dirt, and old fast food packaging.

All funds from this campaign will go toward helping me move out of this place. This includes any expenses for extended stay hotels until I can find an apartment if necessary, rental fees, deposits, setting up utilities, moving expenses, packing supplies, and transportation. I am currently working with two housing programs for disabled people that are going to set me up with a subsidized housing unit, I just need to tough it out until I can fill out an application and get a unit that will actually be affordable to me on my pittance of a budget.

I have a case worker who is assisting me with the logistics and how to go about moving.

I appreciate any and all help received from this campaign, as well as people who take the time to share it. I cannot thank you enough. I have been breaking down near daily at this point from the stress and pressure of this situation. I have been needing to leave for months but could not work up the energy or the courage to do so. Thank you for any assistance you are able to give.
