Disabled and needs your help with daily living expenses.

Hi, my name is Lorraine. For about 8 years, I've had to resort to living in abject poverty from having to go on disability. I'm 56 and this isn't how I imagined my life going. I worked in corporate offices, the government, and finally, customer service. Until my body finally gave out from a myriad of physical illnesses/diseases (hereditary).

I've struggled so much to keep afloat but I feel myself buckling under the weight of the every day cost of living.

I need help getting medications, putting gas in my car to get to appointments, paying the monthly bills and rent and groceries. I have car insurance, and last year had to finance about $2500 in car repairs. And I still need both rear shocks replaced. Been driving for a year on no shocks. A shop near here said he'd do them both for about $550, but I'd have to source a certain rubber (?) part because I have to get it from Mercedes Benz. I have a smart car and it's getting so hard to find parts. Plus something is going on with the transmission. These cars can be driven in standard and automatic. She's starting to have trouble shifting in either. Especially 2nd gear. Alota shaking going on. She's worth fixing, because she has run so well for so long. Plus she's great on gas which is a bonus in this economy.

I know everyone is struggling with increased costs, even with full-time wages or salaries.

Except, I have to do that on about $1400/month, and I still have to pay rent out of that. Only the disabled in Canada are being forced to navigate these waters 50% below the poverty line. We call it legislated poverty.

Alot of people don't realize that PWDs living on disability, all across Canada, live like this. There are a lot of misconceptions about us, and confusion thinking that we are on "welfare". We get lumped in with people who are "too lazy to work and live on the dole". This, is nothing like that.

When the new Canada Disability Benefit kicks in, that's only going to add an extra $200 a month. And here's the kicker. In order to qualify for that, and the Canada dental program, we have to have a Disability Tax Credit certificate. That's a big a problem because you have to pay the doctor to fill in that paperwork. My doctor is charging $200. Double that in my household because my child is disabled as well. I can't even pay the $40 needed for a disabled parking placard. I have the paperwork all ready for the day I find a couple of twenties lol.

If you've read this far, thank you. I appreciate you.

Can you help, with any amount?

I would be so grateful. I need ongoing help in every aspect of daily life, and your gift would make a world of difference.

Thank you so, so much ❤️

Thank you,

Lorraine & Family
