Hi friends,
I never thought I’d be here, but I’m facing the very real risk of homelessness if I can’t come up with rent by September 1st.
I’m a disabled, single mother of two amazing teenagers, and I also rely on my service dog for support. Over the past few months, life has become harder and harder to manage. My customer service job was taken by AI, and since then I’ve been searching tirelessly for stable work, but haven’t had luck yet finding full-time employment.
I’ve applied for ODSP (disability support) and am waiting for a verdict, but the process has been slow and uncertain. In the meantime, I’ve accessed every community resource available — food banks, emergency housing support, social service programs. Unfortunately, these organizations are either out of funds or unable to help me further, and I’ve been barely scraping by for months.
I’ve already been through eviction court once. The ruling means that unless I can pay $1,980 plus an additional $500 each month, my landlord can move to evict me immediately. That could leave me and my kids without a safe home within days.
I am fighting with everything I have to stay afloat, but right now, I cannot do this alone.
If you are able to contribute, even a small amount, it will go directly to keeping a roof over our heads and giving me the breathing room to continue fighting for stability. We have also been without cell phone and internet service for 2 months, so any additional funds will go towards restoring that service.
*** If you cannot donate, sharing this page would mean the world to me. ***
Thank you for reading this, and for supporting us in this critical moment. Your kindness is the only thing keeping us going right now.
With gratitude,
Erica
