Update 3: I'm back where I started. I had to decide to return to my hometown, and I feel like I'm being punished for failing. I'm back on an air mattress, as I had to leave most of my things behind. I'm sorry I let you all down.
Update 2: I am getting "laugh" reactions on Facebook from people who live in my hometown. I am getting phone calls from my credit card accounts about missed payments. My credit score is 498. Someone, please help me.
Update 1: I was recently approved for a rental assistance grant through Black and Beyond the Binary Collective. My rent will be covered for the next couple of months, so I have a little more time to figure out my next steps.
I was also recently employed; while I have yet to receive my first paycheck, this should help with bills.
I was also approved for EBT benefits and am waiting to receive my card to buy groceries.
However, my mental health has only worsened, and I am concerned about losing this job. I may have to go back to inpatient care, making my financial situation even more desperate without help.
My credit card debt is now about 8000 USD. My credit score is in the 510s; I will not be approved for any loan or new credit with a score that low. I cannot make minimum payments, which will drive my score lower.
Hello, my name is Cain, and I need help getting by while I continue to look for work.
This summer, I set the intention to leave my hometown.
I grew up in a rural town in northern California; a Black child adopted by two white narcissists, I developed several mental illnesses, which rapidly became disabilities. I am currently being treated for Major Depressive Disorder and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, primarily due to my upbringing and environment.
In September, I moved across state lines to pursue a job opportunity; for eleven days, my partner and I lived in a hotel while we simultaneously worked and searched for places to live.
Eventually, we found an apartment that, with our combined incomes, was reasonably priced. Two weeks later, I lost the job that I had moved for. I was terminated without feedback.
My final check paid that month's rent; I have no savings as the move was so recent. My partner currently works, but one paycheck will not be enough.
I have been doing what I can, but I need more time.
I have called the unemployment office for my state; since I worked most of the year in my hometown, I don't qualify for unemployment here.
I applied for disability several months ago, before I even thought about moving; it's a very long process, and it could take up to a year for a decision to be reached.
My credit score is rapidly decreasing, as I've had no choice but to use my credit cards to pay for utilities, medication, and therapy since I am still in the process of enrolling in a health insurance plan here. This method is unsustainable without income, as I cannot pay down the debt.
Rent and utilities amount to about 2000 USD, and I have no idea how I will be able to pay this.
I feel like I have exhausted all of my options.
Please help me.
