I have found the perfect chair, and thanks to everyone who has donated I am able to order it, though it is £2400 so is going to need finance payments for some of it, I hope to raise the rest soon!
Falling apart, trapped indoors, desperate to regain independence! Hi My name is Alice, I have severe ehlers danlos syndrome, with underlying fibromyalgia, cervical spondylosis, spinal stenosis and sciatica. My left shoulder is badly damaged from walking with a rollator, bearing weight on my arms too much due to my hips and back making it near impossible to walk I was first told I needed to get a wheelchair 8 years ago, but I fought it for years, and can no longer manage. I simply cannot manage anymore, it's exhausting and incredibly painful. I have no money, massive problems with the departure of work and pensions. I cannot afford to buy the chair I need, most grants are impossible to manage or are ou accessible if you have a higher level of mobility allowance, which I used to get but the government changed things and so far Ive waited two years for a hearing. Every day that I don't have a chair, is another day I'm trapped indoors, only getting out if I get multiple taxis which is expensive and difficult for me. Contrary to popular belief, disabled people cannot get free wheelchairs, particularly not electric ones It must be electric, because I cannot self propel due to joint problems, weakness and pain. I have noone available to push me around in one either. I need a decent electric wheelchair that can go up to 15-20 miles between charges, is sturdy enough for me, and preferably can be folded for travelling in a car. The price is at least 2.5k for one that matches these parameters and I cannot get anything from the NHS or social services for this as they only fund self propelled chairs I need your help, even if you can only give a little, every bit will help me get closer to my dream of being able to go out of the house, explore my area, attend groups and get out in the sunshine instead of getting a taxi , struggling with one arm and my rollator, which then means I'm in bed for 3 days at the least, on high dose morphine, trying to recover, while life passes me by. Please consider donating to my wheelchair fund, I want my life back. Much love Alice ☺️
