Hi, my name is Angelica. I’m writing on behalf of my husband and I. We are a disabled couple living in Texas facing housing instability and the need for food money assistance due to progressing illnesses and severely degenerative conditions.
Our disability applications are going to take a long time for a decision. We had both been doing whatever work we could with our conditions but the last few months we haven’t been able to work at all. I have severe spine issues including arthritis and several bulging and herniated discs (spinal cord implant placed). I also suffer from severe endometriosis which required surgery but is also progressing, in addition to fibromyalgia and Hashimoto’s disease. All severely affect my daily life, mobility, and thus my ability to work.
My husband suffers from ankylosing spondylitis, complex regional pain syndrome, spinal stenosis (surgery recommended), spinal arthrosis, arthritis in most joints, PTSD (Fmr. Law Enforcement related), and complete vitreous detachment in both eyes. All of which severely affect his daily functioning and ability to work. He also suffers from major depressive disorder, compounded by his inability to provide for us due to his disabilities.
While we have secured temporary housing thanks to donations from amazing people like you, we need to secure funding for longer term housing while we wait for the gov’s decision. We desperately need funds for food, utilities, and to pay for our coming month’s rent while we seek longer term housing options.
We are facing the eventual terrifying possibility of homelessness if we can’t stay in our current home or secure other longer term housing. None of this is hyperbole. It’s our sad potential reality without the help we need since we can’t physically work due to our health.
Our goal would cover much needed food, our rent, our utilities, and give us the funds to secure longer term housing while our disability applications are processed. It would mean the world to us to be able to get this breathing room while searching for alternative housing and waiting for the decisions.
Please donate anything you can but only if you’re able to without putting any hardship on yourself. We thank you so much for even just reading this. We greatly appreciate your time and any help. Thank you so much!
