Help Fund Art Show & Relocation of Disabled Artist

Donation protected
My name is Rebecca.

I am an autistic artist with ptsd, chronic migraine, and major depressive disorder. I have been out of work from my day job due to complications with my psychological health since the end of April 2023, which my care team has determined me “disabled” and recommended I file for SSDI.

Now my emotional support cat and I are facing eviction (the hearing is February 2nd).

Since April 2023, I’ve been in treatment and getting better, however a lot of things have had to change so that I can take care of my mental and physical health. The biggest being that my various conditions have rendered me “disabled” - so no more day job.

While I have filed for SSDI, and my attorneys are working on my case, I am relying entirely on art sales for income until it is approved. And I haven’t sold a piece since August.

I have a beautiful life I’ve been building while healing and learning to live with my disabilities rather than constantly fighting and struggling. I’ve been doing everything my attorneys and doctors say. I can’t lose my basic needs when I’m finally the most psychologically stable I’ve been in my life.

Magneto (my emotional support cat) and I could go to my parent’s, but we will loose anything that can’t fit in my car. This includes the art that is in my apartment that didn’t fit in my storage facility.

The SSDI system takes forever, and I have called every agency 211 suggested.

Catholic Charities is a sorry excuse for a charity. I have been trying to contact my supposed casework, Portia, for weeks. She has NEVER called me. I only know her name from the receptionist. They tell you that they can’t help you until you get an eviction hearing letter but then the hearing is only three weeks away and they never call you to help you, the receptionist just acts annoyed you keep calling because no one calls you.

Delaware Housing Alliance can’t do anything until you are “technically homeless” - which I’m trying to avoid.

I am currently 3 months behind on rent, and a couple hundred dollars behind on electric.

Any and all help is appreciated.
Funds will be used to avoid eviction and pay past due electric bill.
