My name is Adrian Pitts. I am a 100% disabled veteran and an October 1 Route 91 Mass shooting survivor. I have TBI, low vision, PTSD, mental health issues, and mobility issues. I hired a contractor two years ago to renovate my house as it needed repairs due to its age and I needed to make it more handicap accessible. These upgrades include a handicapped-accessible shower and upgrading the electric so that I can have sufficient lighting and run the devices I need to assist me with day-to-day activities. I refinanced my home in order to pay for the repairs and he has received over $60,000 but the work is not done and what has been done was substandard. I have not had a working kitchen for a year and a half and went without hot water for over a month last winter. My kitchen sink drains onto the new foundation which was poured badly to begin with. He damaged my roof which resulted in flooding inside my home and there are scorch marks on the beam where it almost caught on fire. The stucco and parts of the drywall on the back of my house were removed leaving my home open to the elements; rodents were able to access my home and cause further damage. I filed a complaint with The Nevada State Contractor Board and have discovered that he has multiple other complaints and has used unlicensed subcontractors; his license is currently suspended. He asked multiple times for advances as he could not cover payroll so I know that he does not have my money to return to me. I do not have the ability to come up with another $60,000 to pay someone else to complete the job. I also now have to replace my roof and fix other mistakes he made. I bought appliances a year and a half ago which have been sitting outside on my porch and in my driveway which means they will likely have problems and may need to be replaced due to the extreme heat even though they have never been used. I am in dire need of help.
