Disability Vehicle for my husband
Donation protected
Hi my name is Amber. I am located in NSW. I am a 32yo Carer for my 34yo husband Who is wheelchair bound. We are needing to purchase a disability vehicle or van to help transport my huband in his electric wheelchair. To provide him some freedom to enjoy the great outdoors.
Disability vehicles are very expensive, the vehicle we require Hyundai staria starts at $48 000. I am only working two days a week and we are both getting centerlink. We dont have enough to purchase one by ourselves.
The ndis will pay for conversions to the vehicle but it needs to be under 2 years old for them to fund the conversions.
Having a disability vehicle would mean we would not have to book and rely on taxis which also add up and can be expensive. There are currently only one disability taxi where we live. The taxis can be booked up weeks in advance and are usually not available for drs appointments in short notice.
It also means more freedom to do day trips to surround towns, zoos, National Parks etc. Helps with my husbands mental health being able to get out.
Please if you can donate or share it will be appreciated.
