Disability Sucks and We're Broke
This isn't something I've talked about much but our household has had a serious upset recently. As some of you know, my husband, David, has a chronic pain condition (they're currently testing for MS, the results of which we'll know next week) which has become progressively worse over the past year. About four months ago he had to stop working for good. He was on short term disability leave from work for awhile which meant we still had an income, but that has run out and we're currently waitng on the long-term disability to kick in.
Long-term disability is still under review and while it will almost definitely get approved, that hasn't been made official yet and even if it does get approved we won't see any money from them until February.... until then we have $200.... Right now we have $200 in the bank which has to last a family of 4 (2 adults, 1 teen, 1 toddler) an entire month. We mostly need money for food and the house payment, we can float bills for a little while but really food and gas/transportion are the biggest concerns at this point.
We've done as much as we can to manage this situation but we weren't anticipating the gap between the short-term disabiliy and the long-term disability to be this extreme and medical costs eat into money like nothing else. Anything anyone can do would be greatly appreciated.
