Hi everyone. After consulting with my primary physician, I was placed on disability leave for anxiety and depression with the starting date being January 6, 2023.
I am not legally permitted to earn a wage until a psychiatric evaluation has cleared me to return to work.
The paperwork for my claim was received by the EDD January 13, 2022. Claims can take up to three weeks to process and there is a significant possibility I will have to go through an appeal process where I submit pay stubs to prove I’ve paid into the system.
Assuming the claim eventually goes through I’ll be at a larger financial deficit than I already have been. My primary concern is making sure I’m able to cover rent and my car note through Spring. The hit to my credit if I were to default on anything would likely prevent me from qualifying for a new rental over the next several years and I may be forced to recalculate out of state at some point this year.
