Disability Improvements for Haydyn
Donation protected
I'm raising funds for my niece and her family to assist them on making their home wheelchair/handicapped accessable after her 12 year old son Haydyn became paralyzed from the waist down.
Her Facebook post from today:
So as many of my friends know. Haydyn went to school on May 7th totally fine. Said his back was hurting around lunch and an hour after he got home he was paralyzed from the waist down. He had spinal surgery the next morning. We’re still trying to understand how this all happened. There are days where I get angry and want to know why my son? The picture on the left is him after he tested for his tae kwon do belt and the one on the right is from recently. My son is having to relearn to walk, how to dress himself, how to brush his teeth, how to use the bathroom. So many things he is having to relearn. Many people have asked how they can help or what they can do. Haydyn has a estimated discharge date of June 20th. He is being discharged with a decent size wheel chair like you see in the picture. It leans back when he gets tired. Our house is not ready for the things he needs. Our bathrooms are not handicap accessible. He needs bars around the bathtub, our flooring in the hall way needs to be redone. He needs a ramp to get into the house and in the backyard. These are just some of the things that need to be done. Tim and I are not home to do these things and to be honest we don’t really know how to do some of these things. We are asking not for money but for people to donate their time to help us get these things ready for him. We will give supplies. If anyone knows anyone or is willing to help please let me know. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
