Hello! I will refer to the recipient as B for privacy reasons. I have worked with B for over a year, and he has been struggling with homelessness and health issues since before we met. Less than a year ago, B lost a limb to gangrene due to a lack of shelter and sanitation. Though the leg has since been amputated, B still has healing wounds that must be kept clean. While homeless, B is at risk of serious infection, which could cause death - and he has been close before with fevers of 105.

B's SSI is currently being held up by systemic processes; Therefore, B currently has no money or belongings aside from their wheelchair. B is currently in the hospital, but insurance won't pay for them to stay forever. As it stands, B will be discharged from the hospital to the streets - unless we can get them help!

I have called over a dozen resources with nothing. Section 8 vouchers are filled; there is nothing available in New Orleans or surrounding areas; you cannot even get on the waitlist.

However, I did find a room within B's budget, once he recieves SSI. I even went to look at it today. Not the best, but a roof is a roof, and there's a free bed!
