Disabled Veteran Assistance

Donation protected

My name is Erin Bruce.  I am raising money for my family and my wonderfully awesome husband who has served his country and supported his family.  He is a disabled combat veteran. We are in a transitional period where we have no income and plenty of bills still needing payment.  Any funds raised will be used towards those bills as well as simple things like food and clothing for the winter months for our 3 children (ages 16 months, 7 years, and 16 years). We need help as soon as possible as my husband has not been able to get to work in 2 weeks and he is now awaiting medical retirement to go through. We have gotten help from family as much as we can, but we are still having trouble staying afloat.  Any help would mean the world to us because we have tried really hard to keep going and it only seems like we are digging a bigger hole. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated from anyone who is willing and able to help. Thank you in advance for your donation.

My husband, Jeremiah Bruce, is a disabled combat veteran.  He served the US Army for 3 years before he was medically discharged. He was misdiagnosed on his discharge and we are getting him reevaluated through the Wounded Warriors Act. His current condition has him in pain from herniated discs and a recently diagnosed broken back. He is going to need at least 3 surgeries to correct the broken back.

While in the Army, he deployed once to Iraq. He then became a contractor and deployed overseas to Iraq and Afghanistan.

For the last 6 years he has been working in DC with the government (Defense and Homeland Security). His disability has started to  get worse over the last 12 to 18  months. He has been trying his hardest to get to the office, but the pain has become unbearable and causes him to lose sleep. Even though his current employers hired him with full knowledge of his concition and promises of working with him through telework and flexible work schedules, they have not kept up their end of the deal.

He is having to medically retire early.  Since it is early, he will not recieve 100% of his current income. It is about to take a dramatic drop and we will most likely have to sell our home and move.

Again, thank you for all who have even bothered to read this lenghthy story.
