Dirty Fingers New Shop Location Build-Out

Donation protected
It’s an extraordinary year for the bicycle industry at large. With no bikes and virtually no bike parts. During non pandemic times, a move would be much easier to fund. Beer sales are helping scrape by for payroll and rent. Taking on a move of this magnitude, is a huge task. The new location will be located at a shared space on Cascade Ave. Hood River, OR.

Going into the construction project... $55k is the goal. In order to conform with health and building codes, permits, buildout, raw materials, fasteners, studs, plywood, paint, facilities, full build project,  and other needed materials...ample funds are needed. The funds are needed in real time, in order to successfully keep the shop doors open, while simultaneously beginning the build out at the new Cascade Ave. location.

Should there be any funds remaining (or exceeding goal) after the buildout is complete, DF will donate equally to local non-profit trail organizations, HRATS & TRAIL 44.

The buildout and move funds will be spent on local contractors, local businesses, local supplies, essentially, we’re keeping it all LOCAL small businesses.

All contributors will receive the following:

GOLD FINGER Card/ happy hour pricing & friends and family discount (10%) for life AND your name on Lucky7 wall (a lovely space).

Everyone who has love for Dirty Fingers has their own special memories...myself included.

I’m more than happy to share a little truth tale of why this GoFundMe endeavor is so dear to my soul and heart. Although it seems like almost yesterday 10Speed and Dirty Fingers were next door neighbors up in the heights. It is that fine local roasted coffee shop that I stumbled upon the poster that would be a huge part of chartering the direction I would go. That special ladies ride launched from Dirty Fingers by several ladies in the community, was the beginning of an endless pursuit to continue spreading such a contagious passion for community, true and at its finest. Within all the wild wheels of shop rides past, I’ve met so many amazing SHEROS and all-around awesome humans. Back when 10Speed and Dirty Fingers adventured down the road (State St. Corner) to embark on a bodacious launch of the wonderful dynamic coffee shop/bike shop duo of DOING damn fun stuff. The flow of coffee lovers and cycling FUN chasers grew larger than before.

Although the original10Speed still remains in the heights OG location, and Dirty Fingers is about to set forth on beginning a new chapter (moving from the State Street Corner), there are so many wonderful memories of what makes DF so darn special. I think back to all of the awesome events/fundraisers we did from mere seeds of passion for true community. We built things, really great things…together, with like minded friends. Those were the days when HRATS was just getting started and there wasn’t even enough money in the bank for a tent yet. We all rallied on the State St. corner location, growing and flowing our love for trails. Handmade posters, free cold ones, coffee, and donuts…just for showing up for our cause, be it trails, high-school sports fundraisers, breast cancer fundraisers, movie nights, trail skills clinics, the gamut ran deep and long. OH, then there was the classic old school car wash we did for the Dirty Fingers all ladies MTB race team, that was some true JOY right there.

And so, we continue moving forward…

It was a true synergy of love and hope. Dirty Fingers, that ladies ride…I’ll cheers it forever and always! That ladies ride inspired me to start a coffee donut run at the loving neighbor, 10Speed. Let’s have all the running folks have this same awesome experience of possibility, of community, of family away from home, we got you, no matter what, where, when, and or how. And although times have changed, for what I believe to be a beautiful new chapter, the fire is always there to ignite, be it for the betterment of a business, and or community. Those run buds, the ones who showed up over the years of the OG dynamic duo of Dirty Fingers and 10Speed, they’ve made a lot of friends. Some went from running and not having the slightest interest in bikes… to slinging 4 different bikes, racing, adventuring along the Oregon Timber Trail, and my oh my, making some darn good friends. The kind of friends who celebrate your successes and elevate your failures to ones that help rise beyond not just what you’ve learned, but create more successes from any said failure. THIS, this is the genuine and loving community I’m so very grateful to be a part of, to journey with, to learn with, and continue to grow within the next chapter. This isn’t just about a bike shop…

This is a family love story of many people above and beyond my wildest dreams. We all have stories to share of why our local retailer is the special one, the family, the dream maker, and the shit stirrer of FUN.

It is a true blessing for anyone to call their favorite shop, their favorite shop. A tall glass of cheers… to the highest mountain, it feels so damn good to walk on in and feel like you’re in your living room.  Dirty Fingers has been a place that shows love without needing to throw down on the hashtags and cyberspace of good graces. Perhaps that’s what makes it a little more my taste. But you should know, there are many reasons beyond words that I would Talladega Nights, Ricky Bobby run through the virtual fire for my favorite shop. Mitchell is that guy who when I lost my job way back in another chapter, straight up told me he may not have a bunch of money to give, but whatever I needed for my bike, he had me. That guy who helped me install my car headlight when I was trying to save money and install it myself. I had it shining sideways. Mitchell made that headlight of chapters past shine forward, the direction I… and we all need to go. Forward, is where we will go.

And like that day, many moons ago when Mitchell kept my bike rolling and car lights shining forward. I get to help be a part of doing the same for him. I may not have the bucket of cash, but I have an everlasting gobstopper of passion to help elevate the people, places, and things that I believe in. Not just this bike shop called Dirty Fingers, but a heck of a lot of other wild and amazing humans that wish to do the same. We’re stronger together and just like the one and only RBG said “Fight for the things that you care about, but do it in a way that will lead others to join you.”

So much love to pay forward, let’s start this new chapter together, because that’s how we ROLL.

Let’s raise the roof, and the money, together. And remember in donating, any sum helps, be it $5 bucks, or $55k. What I’ve always said to volunteers, is if you can’t show up for the party, you can help by spreading the word. Please help spread the word and donate what you’re able.  On behalf of the entire DF cycling friends and family, we are endlessly grateful for your contribution.

All the love, to all the love,
