Dirt’s Fight

Where to start? We found out on June 11, 2020 that my little brother Dustin (Dirt as many of us know him as) has Leukemia. It was just a shock to everyone, especially him and my sister-in-law CaSandra.

He has been having some discomfort in his abdomen recently, but hadn’t thought too much of it until he got sick last week and experienced some pains. He saw the doctor and had some bloodwork done. The bloodwork revealed that his white blood cell count was over 500,000 where a normal count is only 4,000. He was scheduled to see the oncologist yesterday where he learned of the diagnosis. The oncologist had mentioned he had never seen a count that high before. They did a bone marrow biopsy to see exactly what they are dealing with. He was started on chemo immediately and will be out of work for a week to begin with to see how his body is handling the aggressive level of treatment. 

All of this bad news comes on the heels of an awesome time in their life as they have just welcomed their little girl into the world less than 3 WEEKS ago. They now have their hands full as they also have a little boy who will be 2 in October. 

I have started this go fund me (reluctantly as we don’t come from a background of asking for hand-outs) because it’s the least I could do to help them out during this difficult time in their lives. If we can ease their financial burdens, especially since he is the main income source, then that’s just one less thing that they will have to worry about and stress over allowing them to focus on what means the most...fighting this cancer and being a loving family! 

ANYTHING, literally anything, that anyone can give will be so appreciated.
