We've all heard the news by now regarding the bio-engineering (translation: GMO "“ Genetically Modified Organism) of the worlds' food supply which a good portion of our beloved nations' grocery stores are willing to put on their shelves for us to purchase AND that does NOT, according to the FDA, require labeling so important to consumer awareness...do you even know what that means and what the consequences are of consuming this type of food? It's not pretty, I can assure you.
I believe, and I'm sure you will agree, that individuals and families with financial difficulty brought on by either the fractured economy or by illness and/or disease are critically impacted by the unsafe food practices mentioned above regarding the bio-engineering of the food supply as they are at risk of not being capable of making healthy choices due to financial and/or physical limitations: it is our Mission and our Desire to create awareness of this situation and hopefully be able to provide our "Neighbors In Need", as you would do for yourself, with the ability to grow their own life-sustaining food using trusted seed and soil sources that we have handpicked as "Safe for Consumption" that are 100% Organic - NO GMO's!
The only way to really know what you're eating is to grow your own food in whatever space you have available but not everyone has the capability or knowledge to do this and people who are struggling financially have even less capability to make choices critical to their overall health and well-being.
I am saddened, sickened and disgusted with the unsafe food practices being allowed by our government in this country and I want so desperately to help make a difference in the lives of people who are struggling with financial and health difficulties. But I cannot do anything until we get this business properly on the map with all the legals, etc and we absolutely need equipment & tools necessary to do the work. I really need your support to help make this a reality.
We have most of our documents prepared and I am currently seeing a business adviser for the SBA here in Virginia. I hope to see him again by the end of May with our all of our paperwork. That is just 4 short weeks away. Time is critical - we are in overdrive right now getting everything properly prepared and I have complete faith that we will meet our minimum goal of $2,200.00 in the next few weeks.
This site allows you to create a wish list, but it requires photos for the wish list, so I cannot create a wish list as I don't own any photos for the items we need so Here is a List, if you want the spreadsheet, please email me and I will gladly send it to you!
The Legals:
Articles of Incorporation for the State of Virginia...approx $500
Trademark Name and Logo.............................approx $300
State and Local filing fees..............................approx $150
Logo Design...............................................approx $150
Bonding and Insurance for one year...................approx $1200
(some amounts include attorney fees)
Equipment and Tools:
Garden Tiller...........................................approx $200
Edger/Weed Wacker.................................approx $150
Mower..................................................approx $150
Hard Rake..............................................approx $ 25
Shovel..................................................approx $ 25
Spade...................................................approx $ 25
Hoe......................................................approx $ 25
Hand-held Garden Tools x4 (about $12 - $15 ea)..approx $ 60
There are many opportunities out there for continued funding for our yearly operations (seeds, soils, Field and Office Operations etc...we need a Lawyer and an Accountant) once we get on the map, but we're not there yet. I cannot submit for charity grants and or (ugh) loans for operating expenses until we are actually operating - So right now I'm focused solely on the start-up funding, which is looking like close to $3,000 which includes attorney fees for a few legals, some necessary tools and equipment and the (paperwork) Articles of Incorporation, etc for either a 501(c)3 or a Benefit Corporation - we will be voting on this sometime next week, but either way the cost is nearly the same...expensive :-/
The minimum amount needed for just the paperwork, without tools/equipment is right around $2,200.00, so we will gladly accept Equipment donations!
Our greatest wish is that all of our readers donate whatever you can to this worthwhile project for at any time it could be any of us in need of assistance. Please help us with our start-up costs so we can begin to get those gardens growing! There is no amount too small, please make a gift donation today.
Thank You So Much!
Sincerely,
Eden & Theresa
