Dear Friends, Colleagues,
We are raising money to help with the most basic needs of a Ukrainian family that has arrived in Los Angeles, in this time of great crisis. Their journey began in earnest on March 1st, after a week of sheltering in basements and subway stations to keep themselves and their children safe from bomb attacks. They fled their home, left everything they own, and often covered their childrens' eyes as they moved so they would not have to see the fires and devastation the war has brought to them. They have traveled by train, plane, car and foot, through Poland, Romania, the Czech Republic and then finally to the United States.
In a stroke of fate, we met them at Lake Balboa Park - Four adults with 7 children, with nothing more than their backpacks as belongings. The children were still wearing winter coats and snow boots, as it was cold in Kyiv when they left. We are convinced the meeting was not accidental and with the help of our community we can supply them with necessities such as food, shelter and clothing.
The adults are eager to start working and provide for their families, but we all know that paperwork, and permits will take time. 100% of the funds we are raising will be used for food/clothing/housing. It is a big beautiful family in need, and anything you contribute will be met with incredible gratitude.
The family includes:
