Hurricane ETA has devastated Honduras

Entire areas of our country, especially large parts of San Pedro Sula, our city, are completely flooded, with thousands of families displaced and many loved ones missing. Some of our personal friends and colleagues are now sleeping in the street, in either simple blankets or on hard asphalt as they have lost their homes due to total flooding. This is a fundraiser to help over 1000 directly affected families by ETA in a few of the poorest neighborhoods in San Pedro Sula, Honduras organized by our family in Ministerio La Cosecha, a community-run church which has already set aside its inside as refuge from the flooding. With COVID in full swing and thousands infected per day in the city, tens of thousands have now lost their home, their crops, and their entire livelihood in what is a brutal backslap from the year 2020.

Funds will be used directly for families that are waiting for us to purchase necessary materials for their survival during their displacement.

What we need money for
The funds will be used for
- Cheap mattress rentals/purchases as well as blankets for families to sleep
- Portable stoves, grills to cook perishable and non-perishable food already received by the ministry
- Access to toiletries, toilet paper
- Medical equipment to protect those with COVID and others from catching COVID, surgical masks
- Supplies for babies including powder milk, as there are lost babies without family members to be found
- Drinkable water
- Access to boat rentals to rescue stranded family members

$1 USD in Honduras goes a very long way towards helping others. As a promise of this campaign, we will update all funders with photos of goods bought and families helped directly from this campaign.

El huracán ETA ha devastado a mi país, especialmente grandes partes de San Pedro Sula, con miles de familias desplazadas y seres queridos afectados por la catástrofe. Algunos de nuestros amigos y colegas han estado durmiendo en la carretera después de haber perdido sus cases debido a las inundaciones. Esta es una campaña directa para ayudar a mas de mil familias afectas por la tormenta en algunos de los barrios más pobres de San Pedro Sula. La ayuda está siendo organiada por el Ministerio La Cosecha, una iglesia grande en la ciudad que ha abierto sus puertas como refugio a estas familias.

Los fondos serán utilizados directamente para ayudar a las familias que están esperando que compremos materiales necesarios para ayudar su supervivencia durante esta crisis.

Para qué necesitamos el dinero
Los fondos serán usados para
- Comprar camas y sábanas para familias afectadas
- Comprar mini-estufas y equipo para cocinar las otras donaciones de comida que ya hemos recibido en la iglesia
- Paper higiénico y necesidades básicas
- Equipo médico para proteger personas con COVID y otros para que no se infecten
- Materiales para bebés, leche y comida ya que hay muchos bebés sin padres que han sido rescatados de la crisis
- Agua potable
- Acceso a lanchas para rescatar familias perdidas
